Born in Denmark around 1874, Rasmus Nielsen was a heavily tattooed blacksmith, miner and lumber worker before he entered show business as a strongman. He pierced his nipples like the German performer Ringman Mach, in order to lift weights attached to hooks. He also lifted a 75-pound sledge hammer with a hook through his tongue.

He worked in the Ripley's Believe-It-Or-Not show in 1939. He toured with Barnum and Bailey sideshow in the 1940s.

He died at age 83 in Stockton, California in 1958 while there on a visit.
